Greed collects and owns everything, but what if this includes the loyalty of people? Is greed necessarily an all consuming deadly sin?
If you have never read the manga or seen the anime series Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa, you have missed out on a fantastic presentation of the personification of the seven deadly sins (Fullmetal Alchemist is much better grittier than Nanatsu no Taizai , the more recent manga & anime series with the personification of the seven deadly sins). The FMA series is the inspiration for this week’s creative writing prompt.
Create a short story with a dialogue exchange between the seven deadly sins (pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth) as characters.
If it helps, you could also imagine the seven deadly sins as the devils on the left shoulder, and the seven virtues (prudence, justice, temperance, courage, faith, hope, and charity) as the angels on the right shoulder.
Which of the seven sins & virtues do you most often exhibit?
Of the sins, sloth is my weakness, and of the virtues, I believe hope is my strong point. What about you?
