Analytics for October 2020 (YouTube and Writing Statistics)

Note from Jules: My apologies for being late with the October and November Analytics Posts. My grandmother passed away in October, and NaNoWriMo wore me out. Here’s the first of the two posts.

October is Preptober month! The month before NaNoWriMo, where we all begin to gear up for the insanity of November. Since I won NaNoWriMo for the first time last year, I would like to try again this year.

This time, however, I wanted to try in a new genre: Paranormal Romance.  My regular contemporary romance story was shelved, and I thought it might be better to add a bit of fantastic elements and make my romance story paranormal.

This post will go over my analytics for my small YouTube channel and my writing for the last month.

Writing Analytics

I have started to track my words closely to see where I am getting most of my writing in, and where I need to redistribute my time. Plus, the Milwordy Challenge (read about it in this blog post).

October 2020 Writing Totals

Pages Edited: 0

Words in YA Fantasy WIP: 0

Words in Paranormal Romance WIP: 48,039

Words in Novellas/Short Stories

Words in Web Content (blogs, video scripts, Freelance, etc.): 13,330

Words in Research & Notes: 3,021

Words in Journal: 3,655

Monthly Word Count: 68,045

Looking at these numbers, I was heavily into the new project for Preptober, leading into the NaNoWriMo season.  I pretty much abandoned all other projects in favor of world building for this new paranormal romance series. Initially, I wanted to plan just one book, but a larger, multi-book story arc was intriguing to me, and I wound up planning for that.

Also, a side note, My Grandmother passed away on October 11th, so there were definitely some days where I did not want to write, and some days where all of my writing was useless because I just wanted to take my mind off of things.

I have also written 10 thousand more words this month than last month, which makes me feel pretty good. However, I do wish they were more evenly distributed across my WIPs.

Current WIPs:

Project Grey (YA Fantasy) – 2nd Draft

Project Grey 2 (YA Fantasy sequel) – Planning Stage

Project Moon (Paranormal Romance series) – Planning and Drafting Stages

Cinderella Should Have Been a B*tch (Fairy Tale Retelling) – Drafting Stage

Murder Mystery – Planning Stage

If you are interested in joining me for some live writing or productivity sprints, here is the link to my YouTube channel, where I hold sprints MWF 1-3 PM Eastern and Sunday 2-5 PM Eastern every week.
