I Hate My Main Character’s Name – NaNoWriMo Day 12

I made the mistake of naming my main character Schwartz. It was a temporary name, and I knew that going into NaNoWriMo. Initially it wasn’t going to be a problem because I was writing the story in first person.

Then I switched to 3rd person, and began typing his name exponentially more times. And the typos began.

Schartz, Shwartz, Schwarts, Sxhwarts, Cshwartz, and so many more…

I hate it.

I have spent so much time hitting the backspace key it is ridiculous. I started writing “the hero,” “protag,” and “main guy” instead of using his name.

In addition to trouble with my main character’s name, I keep waffling between using “principal” and “head master” for the top faculty member at the mages’ academy. I think I just have a problem being indecisive!

If you feel like helping out a poor indecisive writer, leave me a comment with a name that is easier to type than Schwartz, or let me know if I should use principal or head master.

On the plus side of things, I have managed to finish several more scenes, completed a chapter, and I have reached 23,474 words.
